Alan Ward - Founding Director

Alan co-founded changedrivers with Malcolm Anderson in 1998 after a decade as an independent consultant delivering strategy and reengineering change management services to a wide variety of clients.

As a co-founder of changedrivers he has been the author of the Vision Into Action™ suite of workshops specifically designed to allow the executive team to define the Aspirational Endstate of the organisation and to cascade this Vision through the organisation through a coordinated system of Operational and Tactical workshops which put the "organisational meat" on the strategic skeleton.

In the field of "Working-Knowledge", Alan's primary interest revolves around the development of expert systems and the way in which organisations can capture the implicit knowledge of their subject-matter-experts and then make this information widely available within the organisation.

His work uncovers the "internal best practices" of the client organisation and he then uses proven methodologies to convert the Tacit Knowledge of the "subject matter experts" within the organisation to Explicit Knowledge that can be shared across the whole of the business.

Alan believes that organisational excellence can only be brought about by ensuring that the behaviours and practices of the "leading lights" of the organisation (whoever they are and whatever roles they play in the business) are understood and duplicated across the business. To this end, he has developed his practice around organisational change that is driven through changes in business process, and the knowledge systems that govern the way work is done within organisations.
