STEMS™ - a new product from changedrivers...
We are pleased to announce that Peter Clarke has now joined the team as the Principal of our new Mentoring and Change Practice. As a recently retired Rear Admiral, Peter has a wealth of experience of leading and managing people in uncertain, complex and risky environments. Now eagerly embarked on a new career, he aspires to pass on his experience and knowledge for the benefit of others.
Having gone from Commander to Admiral in less than six years, Peter readily offers the view that his success in the Royal Australian Navy is due to his ability to get the best from his people. He proudly claims to have done this through mentoring - a technique he developed as the Commanding Officer of a British nuclear submarine in the late 1980s - although he acknowledges that his progression has been helped by his desire to challenge dogma, and a belief that the status quo is probably not the best way to prepare for the future. Having applied his principles of mentoring in a wide range of appointments, Peter has now formalised and recorded his process so that it can be more easily applied by others. The result of this is the Strategic Embedded Mentoring System - STEMS™.
…and why do we now offer STEMS™?
At changedrivers, our work over the past few years has shown us that, as the pace of change increases, all organisations face less predictable challenges. These are exacerbated by the growing pressures on the Australian workforce - The Business Council of Australia estimates that in the 2020s, the workforce will be growing by less than a tenth of its current rate. Added to this, the passing of the "baby-boomers" and their replacement with the much more choosy and career-agile Generations X and Y will make the need to be an Employer of Choice really bite, with direct and measurable impact on the bottom line. Managing staff churn, reducing contribution time, targeted succession planning and improved decision making are essential attributes for enterprises that intend to survive.
We at changedrivers are constantly seeking ways of helping our clients improve their corporate agility while underpinning business continuity for the future. We know that organisations must be change-friendly to thrive in uncertainty rather than being threatened by it. It is this shared interest in finding opportunity in ambiguity that brought Peter and changedrivers together. We now offer STEMS™ as a key enabling system that will develop the best attributes in key decision makers, driving business success today and into the future.
